Re: Mercury Prize 2016
If the Mercury lot really felt the need to tip their hat to agrime this year, then Kano should have won it hands down. His record pisses all over Skepta.

That would rule out a lot of music then Ray.
Of course it's music.

Grime isn't 'music', 'music' is defined by melody and harmony, Grime has neither, its fucking shit.

Re: Mercury Prize 2016
I like Skepta, good luck to him. he'll better use of the prize than the usual beige chumley warner cunts that win it (PJ Harvey is not included in that) :.)

I love me some PJ Harvey, but her latest release The Hope Six Demolition Project wasn't the best.

I'm old and boring.

But I love house music - that's fast. Jungle was OK. Can't stand grime. I don't think the speed has anything to do with it.

Re: Mercury Prize 2016
The grime sound at its base level is so fast, aggressive, raw, and full of energy it can be quite intimidating for old and/or boring people.

I reckon a lot of people on here's parents hated punk for the exact same reasons.

Re: Mercury Prize 2016
Russ and MIM have nailed it.

Those who actually have seen his rise will appreciate he's stayed completely grounded and never forgotten his roots.

The way he's smashed up America, and promoted the genre all over the world is magnificent.

Maybe so. But it's still that original sound. I think it's superb he's finally been recognised. And will give the industry a shake up.
